Gathering Evergreens

Sometimes you have to wade through the snow to get what you want...

My sister and I were hunting for christmas greens!

and there is my sister too, in her kitten hat!!!

and then we trotted home to Vinnord Cottage to decorate!

Pony Peeps Party!

On Dec. 8th I had a few pony-pals over for a pre-christmas dinner. And lots and lots of wine... I wasn't in my best of health the next day... and thats putting it mildly... still, I felt better than last year... I made turkey with all the servings, and I do belive everyone was stuffed at the end.

This is my 2nd pony-party and I do hope to make it a pre-christmas tradition...

My favorite part, of course, was decorating the table. I didnt get any pictures of it on the day. So I recreated the centerpiece to show off... you can't blame me can you? :)

yes those are Schleich ponies :) It was simple table, but very christmas-y! Don't you think?

Close-up of one of the merry equines :)

I also want to share something else with you. The Vinnord mudroom has been featured in a new online magazine called; My Horse Life.
Click the photo to go to the magazine (it's in Norwegian, but lots of eye candy for everyone)
It's all about how once you're addicted to horses, bits of horse sneak into every little bit of your life. How you dress, how you decorate, and how you speak.
I should know...

My tree came up today! I cant wait to get some proper light and show you :) It's my most perfect tree yet. Very Disney like... :)

Christmas snippets!

Home with the flu today, crapped out on the sofa with a fever and all... Not exactly great... Hope to be better enough for one last day of work tomorrow before I have several days off before christmas... Which I will spend taking MORE pictures of the cottage, and decorate the TREE!!! Can't wait!

But here is taste of what's to come... just a few snapshots taken between naps, I wanted to do more but the light failed me :(

I am not terribly satisfied with the decor this year, and what anoys me even more is... I dont know WHY!!!!

The assembly of my favorite santas... all hallmark ones. I try to find MORE santas of the world, but they are so hard to come by on ebay/etsy... :( I have germany, norway and england... I wish for more!

a new addition this year, a white stag... Love him!

31 years old...

And aged to perfection... as usual!
Yeah I am still alive... and older. Turned twenty-eleven on nov. 27th... I cant believe I am actually "in my thirties". Where did them twenties go anyway?!

But you know what? I feel better than ever! So yeah... age is just a number!

I decided to spend the day in Oslo, with one of my best friends since high school! I spent too much money on clothes and crap, and went home a very happy girl!

I'll try to get some photos shot of my yule decorated cottage soon. :) And I actually have a few non-christmas related ideas for the hallway as well. Which I am dying to try out. So maybe, just maybe there will be a few more updates here in the near future ;)

See you soon then ;)

Yeah...

This blog really is dead isn't it? I guess my blogging ooomph just isnt there anymore. Other things have found me... and the days pass by without any time to "get back into it"...

It's a wet and dark November... it started so great with white snow and cold... I loved it. Now it has all rained away and I long back to the crispness of snow.

And I am in a christmas mood allready. Imagine that. Maybe decorating for Yule will get me back into blogging? Who knows....
I have ideas, and plans, and projects, but they are all on hold!

My cottage hsa taken on a more british wildwood look, and most of the beachy theme has gone out the window for fall... I dream of getting my hands on a old worn chesterfield sofa for the livingroom... as my green vintage velvety one just doesnt hold up much longer. The cat hairs stick to it like glue I tell you!!! But nothing so far within my price range...

I hope you have a great time, wherever you might be in this world :) And maybe one day I'll be back on the blogging scene!!!
I am pretty active on pinterest though, rumaging for inspiration for that ever-dreaming-library of mine... someday! SOMEDAY!
And I have a re-found love for fashion now that most of my overweight has been shed. I just wish I got to dress up more, stupid job with it's silly uniform eh?

Have a good one!

Happy Birthday Mum!

My dear mum turns 54 today!
I hope she enjoys her day, becuase if anyone deserves it; it sure is her!
She is the best-est mum I could ever wish for. Full of life and laughter, and she has such a big heart. She is the heart and center of our family, and she radiates warmth, people just gather in her home... like flies... but you know, in a good way ;)

Mum can make me laugh 'til I pee myself
and she can drive me crazy

Mum is always there to save my day
if I have been all drama queen or had a typical Trine incident.

Mum is the best companion to share a bottle of wine with
or a cup of coffee

dad & mum

Mum can pop in at the cottage just becuase she felt like helping me clean,
which I hate doing, so I love that mum likes this!

Mum has the best hugs and the best stories to give
to anyone who needs it.

Mum never says no when someone needs help
she needs to learn to say no actually ;)

and her cooking is divine!

Mum... I love you ever so much!!! Please never change!

May you have a happy happy day!

Library Inspirations

Gosh I know this blog seems dead, I am just not as inspired to blog as I used to be... and because I havent done anything to my home in ages, there really isnt much to show you either :)

There have been few thrifting treasures this season, so far anyway... and my big projects are at a standstill due to...oh you guessed it...money! :)

So all I really have to offer right now is a few inspirational photos, that will inspire my library (yeah one of the majour projects here at the Cottage)

Enjoy... and see you when I have something else to offer :)

There is something about worn leather and rustic wood that get me, everyt time!!!

old globes... I have a few allready :)

alittle dark and intriguing, but with enough light to easily read as well!

a place to show off my naturalia curiosa collection. Which is ever growing.

....

someday... soon I hope!

Time Out

Wow... 3 weeks of vacation really doesnt last as long as you would wish... I spent a week in Wales with great people, and had wonderful weather, and made som fun memories. And then I spent 2 weeks at home, with people I love from Germany, and my family. It was great... and now... it's all over. Back to work and all that! Autumn is closing in on us, and I would be lying if I said I didnt love for it to arrive ....

if only I didnt have to go back to work that is :s Serioulsy! I didnt get to do half of what I planned on, and now work will get in the way...

my plans for the autumn is still to get the library AND the guestroom started. I realize the library is a majour job, and will have to be done in stages... but the guestroom isnt such a massive amount of work really. I just need to get my finger out of my butt, and into some paint!

So hopefully my blog will be more interesting again soon. I hope! I also have a few minor project that needs finnishing before they appear here... Time is what is lacking. Always is...

So untill something exciting happens here at Vinnord... have a great late summer everyone! I will be back, when there is something to show ;)

Expeditions of the unknown

My "sisters" from Germany are spending their summer here i n Norway, working alittle and just visiting. I have three sisters from Germany, all former exchange students that lived with our family. They've become part of the Feldmann family, proving that love is thicker than blood any day! I miss them terribly when they are not "home" with us, and we're lacking one girl this summer to complete the set. But getting all five of us together is a tricky task as we all grow older, have lives and jobs that eat up our time.

I am however, very grateful for every minute spent with these brilliant girls! Last weekend we gathered at the cottage for some silly fun, good food.

It's been raining so much in Norway this summer, this day was a very rare day of sun. We enjoyed it to the fullest by having breakfast at the picnic table, and staying outside for ages.

After breakfast we went wor a walk, or rather, a wade into the cottage stream. It runs just across the field, and is usually NOT this deep. But we still decided to go exploring the fairytale woods. It is truly magical in there... We all felt alittle like Indiana Jones :)

It was a perfect day! Even Hokus thought so, but then again, that kitty is nearly always happy-go-lucky!

I have a couple more days worth of work to put in at my job, and then I am off for 3 weeks pure bliss! One week will be spent exploring Wales in the UK (Going to the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show) and the other two will be spent doing fun stuff, in and out of the cottage.

Have a GREAT weekend!

the old garden chair...

I had these old garden chairs.... and I was about to throw them away when I had a brilliant idea of making one of them into a garden swing for my large birch tree!!! I put my handy-man-dad on the case, and a few days later I could swing the summer nights away....

He cut off the legs, added some new support (that I still need to paint as soon as the wood dries up!!!)

I bought some cheap ribbon and tied it to the chains for some extra colour and whimsy... They blow ever so pretty in the wind!

now if it would only STOP RAINING!!!!!!
