Before & After - Livingroom

As promised I will show you more of the eyecandy photos Eva took of the cottage, and I figured it was a good idea to show all the rooms in a before & after post... so today we're starting with the livingroom. And throughout the month I'll be showing the rest. Well the 6 rooms (of 9) that are done anyway :)

As you can see, the living room looked at lot different when I took over in 2008. This picture is from the listing. The colour was dark pine green. With lots of pine & other dark colours. Very traditionally 90's here in Norway. And absolutely horrific! My parents used the same colours in their home during this time.

the only thing this place had going for it was the flooring. Hardwood floors, and well the massive windows. I painted the walls a very light green, and all molding became white.

the sofa set is from the 1960's I think. Bough 2nd hand. It's worn and frayed but I love it. The colour and shape is perfect. And it is SO nice to sit in. The table is from a fleamarket. I simply painted the top white.

above my sofa I have hung a number of prints from one of my absolute favorite artist. Tony DiTerlizzi, these are from his book "Arthur Spiderwicks Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You"... the longest title ever! I love this book so much I bought two. One to read and keep, and one to rip apart for the art. I also love details, like the tiny frog on the frame.

I always have lots of stuff in my window sills. The big windows let in alot of light. Originally they didnt have sills for me to decorate. So my fantasic dad made me some. He is the one who has done all major work here at the cottage and I am forever greatful to him and the rest of my family who helped in every way they could!

I have a special love for lanterns, and I have way too many of them... Or do I?

a favorite birdcage with live greens. And old skeleton keys hung underneath in twine.

so there you are. My livingroom. Hope you enjoyed the visit. And remember to leave me a comment :) I love comments after all ;)
